It’s not about being nice. It’s not lying. It’s not giving false hope.
It is simply about reminding them of their own progress.
For a student that does the work, it can be difficult to see the progress, but it’s there. I’m obligated to highlight that progress, to push them forward, to give them the courage to dive into the next unknown.
I am happy to be able to encourage my students. I feel lucky to have students that work hard. I love watching them be courageous at the sight of new music.
